Ja'far ibn Abi Talib

Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (RA), elder brother of Ali (RA), was renowned for profound physical and moral resemblance to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He served as the brilliant spokesman before the Christian Negus of Abyssinia, reciting Surah Maryam and securing sanctuary for early Muslims. At the Battle of Mu'tah (8 AH), facing a Byzantine host estimated at over 100,000, Ja'far took the banner of command after Zayd ibn Harithah fell. He fought valiantly, dismounting his red stallion to prevent any retreat. Even as both arms were severed by enemy swords, he clung to the banner with his chest until pierced by spears. The Prophet ﷺ informed the companions that Allah had replaced his arms with two ruby wings with which he flies through Paradise.
