Salamah ibn al-Akwa'

Salamah ibn al-Akwa' (RA) was the fastest runner in Arabia, capable of outrunning thoroughbred warhorses across rugged desert terrain. In the Raid of Dhu Qarad, raiders seized the milch camels of the Prophet ﷺ. Salamah spotted them, alerted Madinah with a mighty call from Mount Sala', and pursued forty mounted bandits on foot. By leaping from hill to hill, sniping them with arrows and pelting them with stones while reciting war poetry, he forced them to abandon the plunder and flee. Upon his return, the Prophet ﷺ declared: 'The best of our horsemen today is Abu Qatadah, and the best of our footmen is Salamah ibn al-Akwa'.' The Prophet gave him both the horseman's and footman's share of the booty.
