Author of the First Hadith Compilation (Al-Sahifah al-Sadiqah) • رضي الله عنهما
Accepted Islam before his father Amr ibn al-As and was uniquely authorized by the Prophet ﷺ to record hadith in writing during his lifetime. Compiled 'Al-Sahifah al-Sadiqah' containing over a thousand narrations penned directly from the Prophet's mouth. Celebrated for lifelong nocturnal prayer and fasting alternate days.
“Abdullah ibn Amr asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should I write down everything I hear from you?' The Prophet ﷺ pointed to his mouth and said: 'Write, for by Him in Whose Hand is my soul, nothing emerges from it except the truth.'”
