Mu'adhdhin al-Masjid al-Haram (Caller to Prayer at the Ka'bah) • رضي الله عنه
Endowed with an exceptionally resonant voice. After the Battle of Hunayn, he mockingly mimicked the Adhan; the Prophet ﷺ called him over, stroked his forehead with his blessed hand, and supplicated for him. Abu Mahdhurah's heart was instantly illuminated with faith, and the Prophet ﷺ appointed him as the official Mu'adhdhin of the Sacred Mosque in Makkah.
“Abu Mahdhurah said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand on the forelock of my head, then passed it over my face and chest, and prayed: O Allah, bless him and bestow Your blessings upon him. Then he said: Go and call the Adhan at the Sacred Mosque.'”
