Foster Brother & First Cousin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ • رضي الله عنه
First cousin and foster brother of the Prophet ﷺ nursed by Halimah al-Sa'diyyah. After years of opposition through satire, he experienced remorse and traveled to meet the Prophet ﷺ at Al-Abwa before the Conquest of Makkah. At the perilous Battle of Hunayn, he grabbed the reins of the Prophet's mule, refusing to retreat even when the army scattered.
“The Prophet ﷺ said regarding him: 'Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith is the best of my family.' When he lay dying, he said: 'Do not weep for me, for I have not committed a single transgression since I embraced Islam.'”
