The Archer Who Shielded the Prophet with His Own Chest • رضي الله عنه
Stepfather to Anas ibn Malik and husband of Umm Sulaym whose dowry was his acceptance of Islam. At Uhud, when enemies closed in, he stood as a human shield before the Prophet ﷺ, deflecting arrows with his chest and shooting his bow until it snapped. Donated his most prized orchard (Bayruha) facing the Prophet's Mosque for Allah's sake.
“At Uhud, Abu Talhah shielded the Prophet ﷺ with his leather shield and drew his bow so intensely that he broke two or three bows. When the Prophet ﷺ raised his head to observe the enemy, Abu Talhah said: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! Do not raise your head lest an arrow strike you; my chest is before your chest!'”
