Faris al-Islam (The Horseman of Islam at Badr) • رضي الله عنه
One of the first seven people to proclaim Islam openly in Makkah and the solitary mounted cavalryman of the Muslim army at the Battle of Badr. Famously pledged to the Prophet ﷺ before Badr: 'We will not say as the people of Musa said: Go you and your Lord and fight... rather we will fight on your right and left!'
“Ibn Mas'ud said: 'I witnessed from al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad a stance which I would cherish more than anything else: He came to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of Badr and said: We will not say as the companions of Musa said... rather we will fight with you!'”
