The Angel Jibril (Gabriel) frequently assumed the physical appearance of Dihyah al-Kalbi when delivering revelation to the Prophet ﷺ in the presence of companions. Dispatched by the Prophet ﷺ as ambassador to the Byzantine Roman Emperor Heraclius.
“Abu Uthman narrated: 'I was informed that Jibril (Gabriel) came to the Prophet ﷺ while Umm Salamah was with him, and he conversed. The Prophet asked her: Who was that? She said: That was Dihyah al-Kalbi.'”
