Paternal uncle and foster brother of the Prophet ﷺ. His conversion brought tremendous dignity and protection to early Muslims in Makkah. A fearless hero of Badr, he was martyred at Uhud and proclaimed by the Prophet ﷺ as 'Sayyid al-Shuhada' (Leader of the Martyrs).
