Sha'ir ar-Rasul (The Poet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ) • رضي الله عنه
The premier lyric poet of Madinah who dedicated his majestic verse to celebrating the Prophet ﷺ, defending his honor, and refuting the satirical assaults of pagan poets. The Prophet ﷺ erected a pulpit in the mosque for him to recite poetry from and declared that the Angel Jibril aided his verses.
“The Prophet ﷺ said to Hassan ibn Thabit: 'Satirize them (the pagan Quraysh poets), for Jibril is with you!'”
