Al-Muhajir al-Mu'adhdhab, Lion of the Battle of Yarmuk • رضي الله عنه
Brother of Amr ibn al-As who accepted Islam long before him. When he planned to migrate to Madinah with Umar ibn al-Khattab, his family intercepted and imprisoned him in Makkah under heavy torture until the Prophet ﷺ made Qunut supplications for his deliverance. Later escaped, fought at Yarmuk, and fell martyred carrying the Muslim standard into enemy ranks.
“The Prophet ﷺ used to make Qunut supplication in the morning prayer: 'O Allah, rescue Al-Walid ibn al-Walid, Salamah ibn Hisham, and Hisham ibn al-As, and the oppressed believers in Makkah.'”
