The Two-Winged (Dhu al-Janahayn / At-Tayyar) • رضي الله عنه
First cousin of the Prophet ﷺ and elder brother of Ali. He led the first migration to Abyssinia, delivering the magnificent defense of Islam and Maryam before King Negus. He was martyred holding the Islamic standard at Mu'tah, and the Prophet ﷺ witnessed him flying in Paradise with two emerald wings.
“The Prophet ﷺ said to Ja'far: 'You resemble me in both my appearance and my character.' And Ibn Umar narrated: 'I greeted Ja'far on the day of Mu'tah and counted fifty spear and sword wounds on his body, none from behind.'”
“The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I saw Ja'far flying in Paradise alongside the angels, equipped with two wings.'”
