Awwal Shahidah fi al-Islam (First Martyr in Islam) • رضي الله عنها
Mother of Ammar ibn Yasir and the seventh person to embrace Islam in Makkah. Despite frail old age, she was dragged into the scorching noon sands of Makkah by Abu Jahl and subjected to unbearable torture to renounce monotheism, but refused steadfastly. Abu Jahl pierced her with his spear, making her the glorious first person to achieve martyrdom in the history of Islam.
