Naqib al-Aqabah, Stalwart Teacher of Qur'an & Justice • رضي الله عنه
One of the twelve Naqibs chosen by the Prophet ﷺ at the Pledge of Aqabah and a veteran of Badr and all subsequent campaigns. Umar dispatched him to the Levant to teach the Qur'an and Sunnah; he established the grand judicial court in Jerusalem and became the first chief judge (*Qadi*) of Palestine.
“Ubadah ibn al-Samit narrated: 'We pledged to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that we would not associate anything with Allah, not steal, not commit unlawful intercourse, not kill our children... and that we would speak the truth wherever we might be, fearing not for the sake of Allah the reproach of any blamer.'”
