The master Qur'anic scholar and primary Ansari scribe of revelation in Madinah. Allah Almighty commanded the Prophet ﷺ by name to recite Surah Al-Bayyinah directly to Ubayy. Appointed by Umar ibn al-Khattab as the primary Imam to lead the congregation in Taraweeh prayers in the Prophet's Mosque.
“The Prophet ﷺ said to Ubayy: 'Allah has commanded me to recite to you: Those who disbelieved...' Ubayy asked: 'Did Allah mention me to you by name?' The Prophet replied: 'Yes.' Thereupon Ubayy wept.”
