Mother of the Believers, Counselor of Hudaybiyyah • رضي الله عنها
Among the earliest converts to Islam who made the arduous migrations to Abyssinia and Madinah. After the martyrdom of her husband Abu Salamah at Uhud, she was wed to the Prophet ﷺ. Her brilliant strategic advice to the Prophet ﷺ at the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah averted a crisis among the companions.
“At Hudaybiyyah, when the companions hesitated to shave their heads, Umm Salamah advised the Prophet ﷺ: 'Go out and do not speak to anyone until you slaughter your sacrificial animal and call your barber to shave your head.' When they saw him do so, they all stood up and followed his example.”
