Al-Salaf al-Salih (The Noble Predecessor), First Buried in Jannat al-Baqi • رضي الله عنه
The fourteenth person to accept Islam who outlawed wine upon himself even in pre-Islamic ignorance. Led the first migration to Abyssinia, renounced tribal protection in Makkah out of desire to share the suffering of the poor Muslims, and fought at Badr. Upon his demise in 3 AH, the Prophet ﷺ wept over him and kissed his forehead, designating Jannat al-Baqi as the cemetery of the believers with his grave.
