Adam ﷺ is the progenitor of the human race and its first prophet. Allah created him from dust, breathed into him the spirit, and taught him the names of all things. When commands were given to prostrate to Adam in honor of divine knowledge, Iblis refused out of arrogance. Placed in the Garden with his spouse Hawwa (Eve), they were cautioned against approaching a specific tree. After their repentance for tasting from it, Allah accepted their tawbah and dispatched Adam to Earth as a guided prophet and khalifah (steward).
« وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي جَاعِلٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَةً »
« وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ »
