Islamic History Explorer represents historical dates, geography, and biographical details strictly according to authentic evidence. Dates marked as APPROXIMATE or UNKNOWN are left unforced to prevent artificial certainty.
Prophet Ilyas ﷺ (Elijah) was an Israelite prophet dispatched when his people regressed into worshipping the golden idol Ba'l (Baal). In Surah As-Saffat, he addressed them: 'Do you call upon Ba'l and forsake the best of creators — Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?' (37:125-126). He is praised in the Qur'an as among the righteous servants: 'Peace be upon Ilyasin! Indeed, thus do We reward the doers of good' (37:130-131).
