Prophet Lut ﷺ was the nephew and devout follower of Ibrahim ﷺ who migrated alongside him from Mesopotamia before being commissioned as a prophet to the cities of the Plain near the Dead Sea. His people pioneered open transgressions, highway robbery, and public sexual depravities previously unknown. When angelic messengers arrived at Lut's home disguised as handsome guests, his townspeople besieged his residence. The angels revealed their divine identity, instructed Lut to flee before dawn, and overturned the cities under a shower of marked stones.
