“Whether the Deluge was globally universal or encompassed the known inhabited territory of his people is subject to scholarly discussion among classical and modern commentators.”
Prophet Nuh ﷺ was sent when idol worship first corrupted humanity through devotion to representations of ancient righteous men (Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, Nasr). For 950 years, Nuh patiently preached monotheism day and night, in public and private. When his people persisted in mockery and injustice, Allah instructed him to build the Ark (Safinah) away from water under divine guidance. A great deluge engulfed the transgressors, while Nuh and the believers aboard the Ark were saved and rested upon Mount Al-Judi.
