“Son of Zakariyya ﷺ, named directly by Allah, bestowed with prophetic wisdom and compassion in his youth, who confirmed the Word from Allah (Isa ﷺ).”

Prophet Yahya ﷺ (John the Baptist) was unique in receiving his name directly from Allah before birth ('We have not assigned it formerly to anyone', Maryam 19:7). From his youth, he was commanded: 'O John, take the Scripture with determination' (19:12), and was granted wisdom, gentle affection, and purity. Living an ascetic life dedicated to the wilderness and worship, he confirmed the prophethood of his maternal cousin Isa ﷺ and fearlessly commanded righteousness.
