Historical Biography & Martial Career

Ertuğrul Ghazi (رحمه الله) was the revered chief of the Kayı clan of the Oghuz Turks whose unyielding courage on the frontier created the cradle of the Ottoman Empire. Leading 400 horsemen into Anatolia amidst the Mongol cataclysm, he allied with Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Kayqubad I. For his battlefield bravery, he was granted the border marches of Söğüt and Domaniç on the Byzantine border. Imbued with deep Islamic piety and guided by Sufi masters like Sheikh Edebali, Ertuğrul waged constant frontier ghaza, laying the spiritual, political, and military foundations for his son Osman I to establish the Ottoman Sultanate.
