غزوة بدر الكبرى (يوم الفرقان)
313 combatants (82 Muhajirun, 231 Ansar, 2 horses, 70 camels) — Muslims had only two horses (ridden by Az-Zubayr and Al-Miqdad) and 70 camels taken in turns.
14 Shuhada (6 Muhajirun, 8 Ansar)
950–1,000 warriors (100 cavalry, 700 body armor suits)
70 slain (including Abu Jahl, Utbah, Umayyah ibn Khalaf), 70 captured
Al-Hubab ibn al-Mundhir advised the Prophet ﷺ to encamp by the closest well to the enemy, reservoir the water, and plug the rest. The battle commenced with single champion duels where Hamza, Ali, and Ubaydah triumphed. Divine angelic reinforcement descended as the Muslims charged.
On Hubab ibn al-Mundhir's military advice, the Muslims seized the strategic water reservoirs.
Hamza, Ali, and Ubaydah ibn al-Harith eliminated Utbah, Walid, and Shaybah in front of both armies.
The Prophet ﷺ threw a handful of dust shouting 'Shahat al-Wujuh!' and the Muslim army shattered the enemy line.
Named Yawm al-Furqan (The Day of Criterion) in the Qur'an. Shattered the prestige of pagan Quraysh and cemented Islam's geopolitical standing in Arabia.
“And Allah had already given you victory at Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful.”
“[Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, 'Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, rank after rank.'”
Narrated Al-Bara: The Companions of Muhammad ﷺ who took part in Badr told me that their number was that of the companions of Talut who crossed the river with him: 310 and some teens.
Detailed documentation of the 14 martyrs of Badr and the burial of the 24 chieftains in the dry well.
Full chronicle of the counseling of Al-Ansar (Sa'd ibn Mu'adh's pledge) before crossing into Badr.
