Faced with reports of Byzantine mobilization, the Prophet ﷺ openly declared the remote destination. Uthman equipped one-third of the entire army with 300 camels, 50 horses, and 1,000 gold dinars. The 30,000 Muslims marched through the desert and encamped at Tabuk for 20 days. Seeing the sheer scale and discipline of the Muslim army, the Byzantine frontier garrisons dissolved northward.
Uthman, Abu Bakr, and Umar brought tremendous sacrifices to equip the 30,000 troops.

“Allah has already forgiven the Prophet and the Emigrants and the Ansar who followed him in the hour of difficulty after the hearts of a party of them had almost deviated; then He forgave them. Indeed, to them He is Kind and Merciful.”
